This conference series focuses on the global challenges of contaminants in the sediments of streams, rivers, lakes, bays, harbors, and oceans, where they present a potential risk to human and ecological health, impair economic development, and impede revitalization efforts. To maintain the economic and ecological viability of these environments, it is necessary to manage complex series of actions that affect a wide range of environmental, economic, political, and social issues. Each conference in this series addresses the challenges of combining basic and applied research and new characterization and assessment methodologies with innovative approaches to engineering/controls, monitoring, and sustainable management, providing environmental solutions for a large and diverse group of stakeholders.
