Tri-Mer Corp. is a technology company specializing in advanced air pollution control systems, including the UltraTemp hot gas filter system which can remove particulate with very high efficiency at temperatures as high as 1650°F. Also, UltraCat Catalyst Filters remove NOX at temperatures as low as 350 degrees Fahrenheit as well as PM. Both filter systems are based on advanced fibrous ceramic filters and can utilize dry sorbent injection to remove acid gases such as SO2, HCl, and HF. Tri-Mer’s Tri-NOX Multi-Chem wet scrubber reduces NO, NO2, and NOX. Also offered is the Cloud Chamber Scrubber (CCS) system which treats PM2.5, fine, submicron, ultrafine, and condensable particulate as well as PM10 and more coarse particles.

UltraTemp and UltraCat feature a new generation of ceramic filters for hot gas filtration of fine, submicron, ultrafine particles.

The UltraTemp filtration system uses proprietary low-density, ductile ceramic filters that are lightweight, strong and self-supporting, and have high thermal shock resistance. With exceptionally high open area, the filters have low flow resistance, while maintaining excellent particle capture. Performance features include:

High collection efficiency
  • Typical results are below 0.001 grain/dscf (2 mg.Nm3)
  • Accepts exceptionally heavy particle loadings
High temperature hot gas filtration capability
  • Maximum operating temperature at 1650°F
  • For NOX removal, typical applications between 400°F and 750°F
High resistance to corrosion
  • Ceramic composition virtually inert
  • Suitable for variable hot gas mixtures
Dry scrubbing with sorbent injection for acid gas removal yields excellent results. SO2 removal is typically better than 90 percent, and HCl is often greater than 97 percent.

For NOX removal, filter elements with embedded catalyst provide NOX removal above 90 percent, and very high dioxin removal, typically greater than 99 percent.

The UltraTemp and UltraCat filter systems are a proven option for Boiler MACT compliance, glass production, waste incineration, pyrolysis, biomass and coal combustion, and other applications requiring fine particulate collection along with removal of NOX, SO2 or dioxins.

The UltraCat system provides high NOX removal at temperatures as low as 350 degrees.

Clear Edge Filtration manufactures the 10-foot ceramic fiber filter elements used in the UltraCat system. Nano-sized pieces of NOX catalyst are embedded throughout the 0.75 inch thick walls of the filter elements. This process creates an extremely high surface area of catalyst to interact with the gas flow. Urea or aqua ammonia is injected upstream of the filters and reacts at the catalyst surface to break down the NOX. The system typically operates 400–750 degrees Fahrenheit for highest efficiency of up to 95 percent removal.

Along with high NOX removal, the UltraCat system captures particulate to exceptionally low levels. Typical outlet levels are less than 2.0 mg/Nm3. For high efficiency control of SO2, the UltraCat system incorporates dry sorbent injection using sodium bicarbonate or lime.

Tri-Mer’s versatile Tri-NOX scrubber system accommodates any combination of NO and NO2, including nitration-related NOX, and combustion-related NOX.

Tri-NOX technology eliminates the visible plume generated by high NO2 loading. This yellow-brown gaseous emission is generated by processes using nitric acid in conjunction with metal refining, metal finishing or chemical nitration.

Tri-NOX has no cfm or ppm limitations. Tri-NOX systems achieve virtually any target stack output, including reducing loads of 100,000 ppm to below 5 ppm. Systems are guaranteed to operate within pre-determined ppm limits for stack output without repeated adjustments.

Tri-NOx is applicable to hot and cold gas phase systems, and handles multiple gas stream residuals, including Cl2, HCl, SO2, other acids, other gases, caustics, and particulates. This wet chemical non-catalytic system cannot be blinded and there is no catalyst to poison. Tri-NOX is the technology of choice wherever NOX emissions are most restrictive.

Cloud Chamber System is the Best Available Technology for Diesel Emissions and other Sources of Condensables.

The Cloud Chamber Scrubber (CCS) treats PM2.5, fine, submicron, ultrafine, and condensable particulate as well as PM10 and more coarse particles. Simultaneously, all soluble acid and caustic gases are removed at the same high levels as conventional scrubbers. The CCS is a major advance in multi-pollutant control devices.

Using highly charged water droplets as collectors, the CCS is a proven solution for simultaneously treating fine particles and pollutant gases.

CSS Provides Simultaneous Removal of Particles and Gas
  • Proven submicron performance at high efficiencies
  • Energy efficient. No elaborate electrical system needed to charge droplets
  • Less than 1.5 inch w.g. pressure drop across the entire system.
  • Gas temperature, resistivity, and reactivity have little effect on performance.
  • Handles heavy loadings. Not sensitive to load flux.
  • 99 percent removal of gases such as SO2, HCl, HF, Cl2, H2SO4, HNO3, H2S.
CCS has shown remarkable results on diesel exhaust from stationary sources such as ships at dock, locomotives, generators, and diesel engine test cells. Other applications include glass furnaces, solar panel production, ceramic and abrasive production, and others.

Tri-Mer is also a leader in the development of systems to control dusts, acid fumes, chrome emissions and oil mists. Tri-Mer provides engineering, manufacturing, installation, controls integration, and commissioning, worldwide.
