The EPA has lately proposed amendments to the national emissions standards for hazardous air pollutants in regards to ferroalloys production.
The amendments will be focused primarily on the results of the EPA's risk and technology review. Each of the amendments may lead to revisions of current particulate matter standards regarding crushing and screening operations, electric arc furnaces, and metal oxygen refining processes.
The amendments might also establish new emission limits for hydrochloric acid and mercury, among other chemicals and elements.
Various requirements, especially regarding the control of fugitive emissions from furnace operations and casting, may also be updated.
