The EPA in the Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, Federal Register, published its official promulgation of the planned deferment (until Aug. 31, 2011) for certain data in greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting. The reporting deadline affects data elements for year 2010 that are inputs to emission equations under the Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Reporting Rule.

According to the notice, in response to the EPA's July 7, 2010 proposed confidentiality determinations for data required under the reporting rule, the agency received several comments raising concerns that warrant further consideration before the agency issues final confidentiality determinations for data elements that are inputs to emission equations for direct emitters. To allow time for to consider these comments and other information concerning these data elements before they are reported, the agency announced on Dec. 23, 2010, in a press release that it will defer direct emitter reporting of the data elements in the inputs to emission equations data category until August.
