The EPA is extending the comment period for a proposed rule
to expand the range of sampling test procedures for meeting wastewater
regulations. The changes, the subject of a
Fed Reg Watch blog entry last October, include proposal of EPA
methods and methods published by voluntary consensus standard bodies, such as
ASTM International and the Standard Methods Committee and updated versions of
currently approved methods. The 114-page Federal Register
notice included a ton of information and tables explaining the changes, but use
the link above to find a comprehensive list of the tests affected.
The EPA initially requested that public comments on the proposal be submitted on or before Nov. 22, 2010 (a 60-day comment period). Since publication, the agency has received several requests for additional time to submit comments. The EPA is extending the period of time in which the agency will accept public comments on the proposal for an additional 30 days, meaning comments may still be submitted until Dec. 22, 2010.
