Reinforced hollow fiber membrane

The Dual Stage Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) achieves high levels of effluent treatment by combining the company's activated sludge technology with ultrafiltration membranes. The MBR utilizes a Puron™ ultrafiltration membrane, which is incorporated in modular assemblies located in a separate stage of the bioreactor. The filters consist of reinforced hollow fibers, 2 mm in diameter and made of porous polyethersulfone.

RO element at AWWA conference

Koch's MegaMagnum® spiral reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration elements will be on display at the AWWA Membrane Technology Conference and Exposition in Arizona this month. The filtration elements have an unprecedented capacity and significantly reduce the installed cost of large- and medium-scale RO systems designed for brackish water treatment or municipal water reuse, and for nanofiltration systems where softening or organics removal is a desirable treatment for drinking water supplies.

Filter bags for absolute filtration

The Accugaf™ Series 500 filter bags from Hayward Filtration have a patented, all-welded, multi-pleated construction that significantly increases the surface area of the bag as compared to standard filter bags. This construction also results in high efficiency and longer service life. The bags have a pre-filtration layer and a complex design of final layers that permit the removal of filter gels and deformable particles.

Large range microfiltration

After a successful pilot study and extensive design work, Forest Park Water in Chalfont, Pa., operated jointly by North Penn and North Wales Water Authorities, awarded USFilter an approximately $5 million contract to retrofit a conventional water treatment plant with Memcor® continuous microfiltration technology (CMF-S). The new membrane system will be installed in the existing sand filter basins, becoming one of the largest membrane filter retrofit units in the world.

Self-cleaning water filter

Orival filters protect heat exchangers and prevent clogging of nozzles, tubes and other narrow passages by removing dirt particles down to micron size, of any specific gravity, from once-through and recirculating cooling water systems. Line pressure powered, the filter cleans itself without external power, and does not interrupt system flow. It installs easily in any position.
