Hatch Mott MacDonald, a Millburn, N.J.-based engineering firm, received the Grand Award in the 2008 Engineering Excellence Awards competition, sponsored by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey. The firm was cited for its design of modifications to the Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Plant. PerkinElmer, Pittsburgh, announced the Ettre Award, a new award to honor a young scientist in the field of gas chromatography. The award is named after Leslie S. Ettre, a distinguished professor in the field of chromatography who was a key scientist at Perkin Elmer Corp. for 32 years before retiring in 1990.
