2003 Product Spotlight

Advanced wash water recycling system

Carbtrol offers a wash water treatment system that provides high quality water for vehicle washing. It eliminates off-site discharges to sewers and improves environmental image. The wash water treatment system removes pollutants of concern such as grass, sand, trace fuels, pesticides and odors. The system can also operate for extended periods of time without requiring any maintenance. Carbtrol has been supplying water treatment systems for a variety of applications since 1983.

Bioxide-AQ makes sulfide the prey

Bioxide-AQ combines the effectiveness and economic advantages of the patented Bioxide Process for dissolved sulfide removal and the patented AQuit Process for dissolved sulfide prevention in a single product. The process prevents sulfide formation by interrupting the sulfate respiration mechanism of the sulfate reducing bacteria, causing them to shift their respiration and blocking their ability to reduce sulfate to sulfide. Bioxide-AQ removes existing dissolved sulfide by causing naturally occurring, sulfide oxidizing bacteria to grow and thrive.

New biocide for water treatment

Alco Chemical has a new EPA-registered, non-oxidizing, dithiocarbomate biocide for water treatment that effectively controls planktonic and sessile microorganisms in cooling towers and air-washers. Aquatreat biocides serve most cost-effectively for controlling slime-forming bacteria and fungi in virgin and recycle mills. Plant employees in beet and cane sugar mills already use it for minimizing mesophilic and thermophilic bacteria to prevent fouling. Industries that rely on biocides include oil, fuel storage and flue gas desulfurization.

Cyanide analysis from OI Analytical

OI Analytical's CNSolution is a high throughput system for cyanide measurement. Incorporating a single or dual channel analyzer, WinFlow software and a random access autosampler, the CNSolution uses an innovative gas diffusion ligand-exchange procedure to measure available cyanide or cyanide amenable to chlorination species in 90 seconds. Ultraviolet irradiation of the sample can be added to measure total cyanide every two minutes.

OMI's natural neutralizer has industry smelling fresh

ECOSORB natural organic odor neutralizer removes a wide spectrum of odors from the air without using fragrances or harsh chemicals. The droplets electrostatically attract molecules that form offending odors, then capture and neutralize them, diminishing their volatility until they are reduced to their lowest possible form. ECOSORB has been proven effective with harmful gases, including hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, ammonia, ethyl mercaptan and methyl mercaptan.

Natural product clarifies lakes and ponds

Water in ponds, lakes, lagoons and other slow-moving bodies of water just got clearer, thanks to this natural new product developed by Bioscience. Dubbed MICROCAT-AL, the treatment formulation consists of microbes selected from nature, plus biodegradable aids to settling of suspended solids. The beneficial microorganisms, which thrive in both oxygen-rich and semi-stagnant waters, maintain clarity in “used” water, such as polishing ponds used by fish farms or waste treatment plants by using up available nutrients.
