Robert J. Palermo, P.E., of
Norwood, Mass.-based GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc., has been elected to the
executive committee of the Underground Construction Association of the Society
for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration. Palermo joined GZA in 1978 and is
currently a senior principal. He has been involved in underground design and
construction for 34 years. He is a licensed engineer in 13 states and has
extensive experience in all aspects of geotechnical engineering and underground
construction.
Bryan Murdock has been hired
as commercial services manager for Bay West Inc., St. Paul, Minn. Murdock’s
responsibilities will include managing operations and certain business
development activities for the company’s commercial group. With 19 years of
experience in environmental assessment, remediation and chemistry, his
background includes managing chemical/petroleum assessments and remediation,
emergency responses, Brownfield redevelopments, groundwater/surface water
assessment programs, pre-demolition surveys, and asbestos/mold assessments.
Eric A. Blomberg, P.G., has
been named Tallahassee office manager at Mactec Engineering & Consulting,
Alpharetta, Ga. Blomberg has been with the company for 19 years and also serves
as a principal hydrogeologist. His areas of expertise include program, project
and technical management, geology, hydrogeology and geologic engineering. He
also has served as project manager for a number of Florida DEP projects.
Lisa M. Robert, P.E., of
Mulkey Engineers & Consultants, Raleigh, N.C., has been named to the American
Society of Highway Engineers Northeast Florida Chapter Board of Directors. “I
am thrilled about being appointed to the Northeast Florida ASHE Board. ASHE
contributes so much to the local engineering community, and I am just so
excited about being a part of that,” said Robert. She currently serves as her
company’s principal and director of Florida operations.
The board of directors of Water For People,
based in Denver, has unanimously approved the appointment of Colleen
Stiles as the organization’s new CEO. Stiles was selected from a
field of nearly 100 candidates and brings significant nonprofit and corporate
leadership experience. She assumed her new role on Aug. 15, 2007.
