Officials in Beijing have replaced 450 buses and plan to replace an additional 600 in 2008. The new buses are equipped with 6.5- and 8.4-liter diesel engines using selective catalytic reduction technology supplied by BASF Catalysts.

The new buses meet the Euro IV emission standards and are expected to help reduce bus emissions of NO_X by 60 percent.
