The faces of the pollution control industry

The Water Environment Federation (WEF), Alexandria, Va., has announced its 2007-'08 Board of Trustees. The individuals were confirmed Oct. 16, 2007, at WEFTEC.07 in San Diego. President Mohamed Dahab passed the ceremonial gavel of leadership to incoming President Adam Zabinski, a retired deputy commissioner for the Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities.

Global Resource Corp. announced that they have entered into a research agreement with nationally recognized expert on microwave technology, Dinesh Agrawal, Ph.D. The partnership will advance research in the company's goal to commercialize microwave technology applied to oil shale to recover oil and gas. Prof. Agrawal is a professor of materials science, and he acts as director of the Microwave Processing and Engineering Center at Penn State University, State College, Pa.

Margaret Wilson Sembos, P.E., has joined the Charleston, S.C., office of Kestrel Horizons LLC as a senior consultant. Sembos has over nine years of experience in engineering and environmental consulting. Her primary area of expertise is in air quality management.

J. Paul Doody, P.E., a senior vice president with Arcadis, Denver, Colo., is one of 14 independent experts selected to review a report being published by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) on the effectiveness of dredging at Superfund megasites.

Carsten Regent, Ph.D., has been named BMW Manufacturing Corp.'s new vice president for Total Vehicle, Quality Management and Engineering. Regent joined the auto manufacturer in 1998, working in assembly at the Munich factory. Since then, he has filled a variety of roles in planning, analysis and quality. He holds a doctorate in manufacturing engineering from Hannover. Regent replaces Peter Gilliam, who has moved to the Dingolfing plant in Germany.

Carey Miller, P.E., recently joined DLT&V Systems Engineering Inc. as director of engineering, bringing with him more than 16 years of experience in the instrument, controls, mechanical and electrical engineering fields.
