Don't miss EUEC 2008 this month. The 11th annual Electric Utilities Environmental Conference expo, workshops and training sessions will be held Jan. 27-30, 2008 at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa in Tucson, Ariz. Alliances and Acquisitions

Ecovation, Rochester, N.Y., announced that it has signed a contract to acquire the technologies of Belgium-based Biotim N.V., a European supplier of anaerobic treatment systems, for sale in the U.S. Visit www.ecovation.com

ESS, Tempe, Ariz., has a new partnership agreement with OSIsoft. The agreement is expected to use OSIsoft program infrastructure to enhance ESS's enterprise software. Visit www.ess-home.com

Applied Technology Ltd., Atlanta, has acquired an equity stake in Jiangxi Chemshun of China. The venture will operate under the name of ACIChemshun, and will make Applied their partner's North America sales agent and distributor for RTO media. Visit www.appliedcatalysts.com

In-Situ Inc., Fort Collins, Colo., announced the acquisition of TauTheta Instruments LLC, Boulder, Colo. The acquisition was completed earlier this year. Visit www.in-situ.com

Envirosight, Randolph, N.J., and Vivax Corp., Emerson, N.J., have announced a strategic alliance to further the development of push camera technology. Visit www.envirosight.com

Awards & Recognition

Arcadis, Denver, announced it was ranked as one of the top 20 fastest growing architecture, engineering and engineering consulting firms in the United States. The ranking, came in the 8th annual Zweig Letter Hot Firm 2007 and identified the company as No. 14 based on percentage growth and dollar growth. The survey also named Arcadis as one of the top three consulting engineering firms and one of the top 10 large firms in the U.S. Visit www.arcadis-us.com.

Interior Removal Specialist Inc., South Gate, Calif., a demolition contractor, was awarded the International Solid Waste Association's (ISWA) Innovation Award on Sept. 24, 2007, at a ceremony in Amsterdam. SCS Engineers, a member of ISWA, nominated the contractor for the award for diverts 72 percent of all debris generated, diverting materials not even being considered by most other facilities. The contractor researched and found markets for drywall, used cabinetry, carpet, ceiling tile and office furniture. Visit www.scsengineers.com.
