
According to a study by the Center for Public Integrity, four companies connected by the EPA to known toxic waste sites have escaped fiduciary responsibility by filing for bankruptcy. The four companies have avoided what was estimated to be over $500 million in cleanup costs.
While studying a list of 100 companies on the EPA’s website, the group noted that overall, six companies were connected to about 120 Superfund sites located in 28 states.
