Waters Corp., Milford, Mass., announced it has entered into a cooperative research and development agreement with the EPA’s National Exposure Research Laboratory to develop trace level analytical methods for detecting perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in soil and water. The goal of the agreement over the next three years is to develop methods for the sample collection, storage, extraction, cleanup and analysis for trace levels of PFCs. John Zink Company LLC, Tulsa, Okla., has finalized the acquisition of Coen Company Inc., Woodland, Calif., a privately held combustion supplier to the power generation, steam generation and process combustion markets. Coen will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary. No financial details were announced. The acquisition includes all stock of the current ownership. Coen has about 270 employees in North America. Severn Trent Services, Fort Washington, Pa., has been awarded three separate contracts to provide TETRAT Nitrifying Submerged Aerated Filter technology to Thames Water Utilities, the U.K.’s largest water and wastewater treatment company, based in Reading, England.
