Racine Federated Inc., Racine, Wis., announced its acquisition of the vortex flow meter product lines of Asahi/America Inc., Malden, Mass. Asahi/America will no longer sell, service or support the Universal Vortex Flow Meter and FloSonex Ultrasonic Flow Meter product lines. RMT Inc., Madison, Wis., an environmental engineering and consulting firm and subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corp., announced that it has completed its acquisition of MHA Environmental Consulting Inc., San Mateo, Calif., a business that provides planning, environmental review and permitting services primarily to California-based companies. Waters Corp., Milford, Mass., announced it has entered into a cooperative research and development agreement with the EPA’s National Exposure Research Laboratory to develop trace level analytical methods for detecting perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in soil and water. The goal of the agreement over the next three years is to develop methods for the sample collection, storage, extraction, cleanup and analysis for trace levels of PFCs. The company will attempt to provide methods to help determine how PFCs are distributed in the environment and how humans are exposed. Visit www.epa.gov/nerl and www.waters.com.

John Zink Company LLC, Tulsa, Okla., has finalized the acquisition of Coen Company Inc., Woodland, Calif., a privately held combustion supplier to the power generation, steam generation and process combustion markets. Coen will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary. No financial details were announced. The acquisition includes all stock of the current ownership. Coen has about 270 employees in North America. The Adventus Group has rejoined the Association for Environmental Health & Sciences (AEHS) to recognize talented, emerging environmental scientists during the 17th Annual AEHS Meeting and West Coast Conference on Soils, Sediments and Water, held in San Diego. Two $500 awards were given for the best student presentations from among the diverse participants during the conference. The presentations were judged by a panel of industry experts including Susan Henry of AEHS, Rula Deeb of Malcolm Pirnie, Yue Rong of CA RWQCB, Steve Koenigsberg of WSP Environmental Strategies, Ioana Petrisor of Haley & Aldrich, Anna Willett of CEUS, Jim Jacobs of Environmental Bio-Systems, Karen Lyons of Shell Oil Products, and Jim Mueller of Adventus Americas. Severn Trent Services, Fort Washington, Pa., has been awarded three separate contracts to provide TETRAT Nitrifying Submerged Aerated Filter technology to Thames Water Utilities, the U.K.’s largest water and wastewater treatment company, based in Reading, England. The systems will be installed at existing facilities at Waddesdon, Culworth and Byfield and will provide tertiary nitrification to help the utility meet ammonia standards. Brand Name Change

Emerson Process Management, Boulder, Colo., has announced a change in the brand name of the company’s densitometers product line from Solartron to Micro Motion. Emerson acquired the densitometers product line in 2005 and added it to the Micro Motion offering. Visit www.emersonprocess.com.

Going Abroad

Flowserve Corp., Irving, Texas, recently opened its new pump manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, India. The plant was inaugurated by company president and CEO Lewis Kling at a ceremony in Coimbatore on April 12. The facility is expected to double the company’s existing Indian production capabilities, and provide pump products for the oil and gas, power and chemical industries. The 100,000 square foot pump facility was built on 14 acres at an investment of approximately $8.5 million. The company was honored in April as the recipient of the Indo-American Chamber-Sanmar Indo-U.S. Business Cooperation Award. Visit www.flowserve.com.
