
A cement manufacturer in the Midwest planned to use hazardous wastes consisting of solvents and oils to fuel the company’s process. The alternative fuels were stored in storage tanks and the secondary containment area was fashioned with concrete. The company overcame the problems of containing potential spills by applying a special coating developed by Blome International of O’Fallon, Mo.
The coating contained zero VOCs and cleaned up with hot, soapy water. The coating was applied in a six-step process that sealed the concrete containment.
