
The EPA recently honored Los Angeles World Airports for its commitment to remove over 2,200 lbs. of mercury at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as part of the agency’s National Partnership for Environmental Priorities program. LAX is the first commercial airport in the U.S. to voluntarily reduce mercury through the agency’s initiative.
By December, airport officials intend to remove the mercury flow meters from the airport’s central utilities plant and replace them with mercury-free electronic transmitters.
