Positioning for CO2 Control Market
The Babcock & Wilcox Company
(B&W), Barberton, Ohio, recently signed an agreement with
CO
2 Solution, a Canadian corporation, for an option to
access and adapt its carbon-capture technology for power plant applications.
Through the agreement, B&W has purchased an option for an exclusive license
to use CO
2 Solution’s technology for coal combustion-based
electricity generating plant applications in North America. The agreement also
provides for collaborative research and development to adapt the technology to
larger-scale commercial applications. If successful, the technology could be
demonstrated as a pilot plant operation at the company’s research center in

Milestone
Scott Specialty Gases, Plumsteadville, Pa.,
has been named recipient of the Compressed Gas Association’s Fleet Safety Award
for 2006. The award recognizes the gas company’s outstanding safety performance
among its fleet of cylinder delivery trucks driving nearly 3 million miles. The
award was based on the member company’s total accident frequency rate. Scott
