
According to industry overseer, the McIlvaine Co., by 2010, industries worldwide will be increasing their annual investments in thermal air treatment by 25 percent over 2005 - to $2 billion.
VOCs are often destroyed utilizing thermal or catalytic oxidizers. A popular technology is the regenerative thermal oxidizer, which recycles heat from the process to preheat exhaust gases prior to combustion. These processes are employed by industries including metal processing, electronics, plywood, food and pharmaceutical.
One such rapidly increasing market in the United States is ethanol production. Thermal oxidizers are installed in new applications as well as retrofitting existing plants to control odors.
