The EPA finalized a new clean water rule Feb. 14 that establishes wastewater controls for the metal products and machinery (MP&M) industry. The MP&M rule establishes national technology-based limits for about 2,400 facilities that generate oily wastewater.
EPA estimates that compliance will prevent 500,000 pounds of pollution a year — primarily FOG and TSS — from entering America’s waterways. Industries covered by the rule include those dealing with aerospace, household equipment, hardware, office machine and motor vehicles. See www.epa.gov/guide/mpm/.
