Interesting folks in Pollution industries

Betty-Ann Curtis was named director of biological processes for USFilter’s Envirex Products Group of Waukesha, Wis. Curtis, who brings more than 18 years of experience in the water industry, began in research and development working on bench, pilot and full-scale testing of municipal wastewater treatment products. She later specialized in biological nutrient removal and aeration products, working as a process engineer and then as process group manager.

Gary Erickson has agreed to join MWH’s executive management team in the summer of 2003. Erickson enjoyed a decades-long career in the military and provided leadership at the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence since 1996.

Jack Stein has been named chair of the 2003 board of directors for the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI), Washington, D.C. Stein, who is director of strategic environmental initiatives for Anheuser-Busch Inc., will assist in leading the organization of 41 companies that represent 15 different business sectors. Other 2003 members are: Vice Chair Carol Cala, Worldwide Director, HSE, Consumer Imaging, Eastman Kodak Co.; Finance Chair Robin Tollett, HS&E Programs Manager, The Procter & Gamble Co.; Work Group Chair Elizabeth Girardi Schoen, Senior Director, Environment Affairs, Corporate, Environment, Health & and Safety, Pfizer Inc.; Membership Chair Mitch Jackson, Managing Director, Corporate & International Environmental Programs, FedEx Express; Communication and Marketing Chair Terry Welch, Director, Environmental Technology Center, The Dow Chemical Co.; Benchmarking Chair Carl Wirdak, Director, Environmental Affairs, Occidental Petroleum Corp. and Senior Advisory Council Chair Rich Guimond, Vice President and Corporate Director, EHS, Motorola Inc. Robert Morlino was announced as president of Degussa’s Global Bleaching & Water Chemicals business unit. Morlino is responsible for all aspects of the unit’s business operations, including sales and marketing, production, and environmental, health and safety. He joined the company in 1984 and held a variety of management positions in that time, most recently as vice president of the Bleaching & Water Chemicals business unit.
