The folks of pollution industries this month

• Robert Barber has been promoted to chief operating officer of Environmental Data Resources, Inc. (EDR), Southport, Conn. Barber, who joined EDR in 1992, spent a decade in the company’s sales organization, rising to vice president of sales in 2000. In his new position, he will assume overall responsibility for EDR’s daily operations.

Two new vice presidents also have been appointed: James Haberlen and Robert Dearborn. Haberlen, who joined EDR in 1998, has been named vice president of financial services and will oversee client relations and product development for the insurance and banking markets. Dearborn was been named vice president of corporate and telecommunications services for EDR. In this newly created position, he will oversee the management of accounts, sales and marketing efforts along with product development in the corporate and telecommunications markets.

• Jeff Berk was named vice president of municipal sales for the Dewatering Systems Group of USFilter, Schaumburg, Ill. Berk has been with USFilter since 2001 and has more than 15 years of experience in design construction and sales in the water and wastewater industries. He has also held leadership positions in sales and product management. Berk will take on sales, marketing and sales channel management responsibilities for the company’s municipal markets and products in the United States and Canada. He will work from USFilter’s Holland, Mich., office.

• William Glaze has joined the Department of Environmental and Biomolecular Systems (EBS) at Oregon Health & Science University’s OGI School of Science & Engineering. Glaze comes to the Hillsboro, Ore.–based OGI from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was a professor and former chairman in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering. Glaze was a pioneer in the study of the integration of ecological sciences with human health sciences, and led the charge in exploring sustainable technologies applied to water treatment and the energy and transportation sectors.

• Fred Mossman has been appointed as the Midwest regional sales manager for Vanton Pump and Equipment Corp., Chicago, Ill. Mossman, who brings 30 years of experience in the specifying, selling and servicing of pumps used in manufacturing, processing and those employed by municipalities, will work with the company’s sales force of manufacturers’ representatives and distributors in the company’s north-central U.S. region. He is charged with helping to meet the growing demand for thermoplastic pumps at industrial, chemical and municipal facilities.
