DOE announces climate change website

New website will serve as a resource for greenhouse gas intensity reduction activities by industry associations participating in the Climate VISION program.

The Department of Energy has launched a new website that will serve as a resource for greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity reduction activities by industry associations participating in the Climate VISION program. The website enables the public and association member companies to track their progress in meeting their GHG-intensity reduction commitments under the program.

The site is the official website of the Climate VISION or "Voluntary Innovative Sector Initiatives: Opportunities Now" program, the presidential public-private partnership initiative launched by the DOE in February 2003 to assist the administration in meeting its goal to reduce GHG intensity. Other agencies participating in the program include the EPA and the departments of Transportation, Agriculture and Interior.

The website serves as an information source about GHG reduction commitments plans for meeting these commitments, and industry and government resources that help companies implement GHG-intensity reductions. It also houses information about other climate change programs and initiatives such as the DOE's 1605(b) voluntary GHG emissions reduction registry and the Climate Change Technology Program.

In December, the DOE released two reports from the U.S. Climate Change Technology program that present a portfolio of federal research and development investments in climate change technology. Visit the web site at www.climatevision.gov.
