O'Dea, Lynch, Abbattista Consulting Engineers PC, has made Peter S. Browne, PE, and James F. Dolan, PE, associates of the firm. As newly appointed manager of the company's electrical department, and project manager on many of the larger jobs in various environment areas, Browne will maintain technical quality control, supervise design procedures, and keep the firm up-to-date with the latest technologies. With over 14 years of experience in systems design and energy engineering, Dolan will lead the firm's efforts in all aspects of efficient mechanical systems from energy analysis and equipment selection to final commissioning.


GAI Consultants Inc. has announced the promotion of Jay Copenhaver from IT Director to Assistant Vice President/Chief Information Officer in their Pittsburgh office. The first-ever CIO for the company in its 47-year history, Copenhaver has been with GAI for 10 years, and has worked in various IT capacities including Network Supervisor and IT Manager.


UCLA computer scientist Deborah Estrin, Ph.D., was named one of Popular Science magazine's “Brilliant Ten” in 2003, introduced her work in embedded network sensors to an international audience on Jan. 27, 2005 at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum. The technology uses tiny sensors and actuators - about the size of matchboxes - that can be densely distributed within a natural or man-made environment to monitor temperature, water and structural changes.


Moyno, Springfield, Ohio, announced the recent appointments of two prominent associates: Keith M. Peterson as VP Sales & Marketing; and David A. Doty to National Sales Manager. With over 20 years of experience, Peterson will be responsible for the overall management of sales and marketing functions. Doty, whose career with the company spans 21 years, will be responsible for industrial and municipal sales activities for North America as well as all regional sales managers.


Agilent Technologies Inc., Palo Alto, Calif., announced that its board of directors has elected William P. (Bill) Sullivan as the company's next president and CEO, effective March 1, 2005. Sullivan, who formerly served as the company's executive vice president and COO, succeeded Edward W. (Ned) Barnholt, who announced his retirement as chairman, president and CEO of the company he helped launch following its spin-off from Hewlett-Packard in 1999.


Guy W. Vaillancourt, P.E., has recently been promoted to the position of president of Woodard & Curran, Portland, Maine. He has specific expertise in Superfund investigations/remediation, RCRA corrective action and hazardous waste investigations/remediation. The company also welcomed sustainable business practice expert David Bennell, who has joined the firm as vice president.
