GAI Consultants Inc. has announced the promotion of Jay Copenhaver from IT Director to Assistant Vice President/Chief Information Officer in their Pittsburgh office. The first-ever CIO for the company in its 47-year history, Copenhaver has been with GAI for 10 years, and has worked in various IT capacities including Network Supervisor and IT Manager.

UCLA computer scientist Deborah Estrin, Ph.D., was named one of Popular Science magazine's “Brilliant Ten” in 2003, introduced her work in embedded network sensors to an international audience on Jan. 27, 2005 at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum. The technology uses tiny sensors and actuators - about the size of matchboxes - that can be densely distributed within a natural or man-made environment to monitor temperature, water and structural changes.

Agilent Technologies Inc., Palo Alto, Calif., announced that its board of directors has elected William P. (Bill) Sullivan as the company's next president and CEO, effective March 1, 2005. Sullivan, who formerly served as the company's executive vice president and COO, succeeded Edward W. (Ned) Barnholt, who announced his retirement as chairman, president and CEO of the company he helped launch following its spin-off from Hewlett-Packard in 1999.

He has specific expertise in Superfund investigations/remediation, RCRA corrective action and hazardous waste investigations/remediation.
