Bernd Koenigsbruegge has been named vice president, Body in White at BMW Manufacturing Co. He succeeds Manfred Moser, who returned to Germany to work at BMW's Research and Innovation Center in Munich.
Diane Meyer, marketing coordinator for Val-Matic Valve and Manufacturing Corp., Elmhurst, Ill., has been elected president of the Demand Management Association (DMA). Meyer has been instrumental in the implementation of fore-casting systems at Val-Matic. The DMA is an international organization of 750 members whose goal is to increase performance and profit-ability through the use of demand management product forecasting software.
Georgia Perkey has been named chief information officer for Earth Tech Inc., Long Beach, Calif. She comes to Earth Tech with 25 years of management experience in various technology positions. Perkey's responsibilities will include setting strategic direction for the company's global information technology platform, ensuring that Earth Tech's business strategies are supported by the company's technology strategy, and managing and implementing new technology initiatives.
Dr. Jacqueline Quinn, a NASA environmental engineer in the Spaceport Engineering and Technology Directorate at Kennedy Space Center, recently received the Society of Women Engineers Technical Achievement Award for her "scientific and engineering research of innovative solutions for the remediation of groundwater, soil and sediment contamination at the Spaceport." Quinn and three University of Central Florida professors developed emulsified zero-valent iron or EZVI, which uses iron particles in an environmentally friendly oil and water base to neutralize toxic chemicals.
Dr Raj Rajagopal, chief executive of United Kingdom-based BOC Edwards, is one of 16 new members appointed to the Council for Science and Technology announced by British the Prime Mminister Tony Blair on March 8, 2004. The appointments represent a wide range of experience from the scientific community, business and charities. The council is the U.K. government's top-level advisory body on science, engineering and technology policy and advises the prime minister and the first ministers for Scotland and Wales on issues of strategic importance in these areas.
John Reichling has been promoted to vice president of, CDM, Atlanta, Ga. He brings more than 21 years of experience in environmental and geotechnical engineering. As a client manager and project director, he will oversee private sector marketing and business development activities for CDM's environmental management and facility design work in Georgia and South Carolina.
Vladan Veljovic has been appointed to the position of president and CEO of Spaans Babcock Inc. (SBI), Balk, the Netherlands. He brings more than 15 years of experience in the environmental equipment and utility sector. Vladan will be responsible for all operations and business development of SBI in North America and will play a key role in ensuring that the company's operations and services satisfy existing and future customer needs.
