PETA has accused a number of groups of encouraging and promoting cruelty to animals.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has accused a number of groups of encouraging and promoting cruelty to animals. PETA built a Web site (www.meangreenies.com) to expose these allegations. The site states, "It is a sad fact that some organizations claiming to care about the environment and wildlife not only support, but actively promote the poisoning of animals in cruel and useless laboratory toxicity tests."

PETA is upset in particular with the World Wildlife Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council and Environmental Defense. The claim is that these organizations are colluding with the USEPA to design the Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program.
