• Arthur Baggett has been reappointed by California Gov. Gray Davis as chair of the State Water Resources Control Board. Baggett, who has been a member of the board since 1999, has served as chair since 2001. He served two terms on the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors from 1987 to 1995. Baggett is a former chair of the Mariposa County Water Agency, a former Board Member of the Mountain Counties Water Association, and a past President of the Mariposa County Bar Association. This board reappointment requires Senate confirmation.
• Rep. Joel Brunsvold, D-Quad Cities, Ill., has been appointed by Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich to serve as director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Brunsvold, a state legislator and former chair of the Illinois House Agriculture and Conservation Committee, is recognized as an authority on conservation and land use issues. He also served on the House Environment and Energy Committee. He currently is a member of House Speaker Michael Madigan’s leadership team and serves as chairman of the Illinois Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus.
• Garth deBruyn has been appointed as the new executive vice president and general manager of ProMinent North America. DeBruyn joined the Canadian subsidiary ProMinent Fluid Controls Ltd. in 1990, later serving as general manager. A professional engineer with more than 22 years experience in water and wastewater treatment, deBruyn oversees the strategic direction of operations for the U.S. Subsidiary, ProMinent Fluid Controls, Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa.
• Larry Lewis has been promoted to the position of executive vice president, Vanton Pump & Equipment Corp., Hillside, N.J. In his new position, Lewis will carry out overall corporate responsibilities. Kenneth Comerford has been promoted to serve as the company’s vice president of sales and marketing worldwide. The management realignment is expected to facilitate continuance of innovative product development and personalized customer service.
