Anaerobic digestion is a naturally occurring process in which microbes break down organic material into inorganic compounds in an environment devoid of molecular oxygen. The company's process mixes animal manure with additional substrates, such as fats, oils and proteins derived from food industry wastes. Methane is the main product resulting from the decomposition of this mixture, comprising up 60 to 70 percent of the resulting biogas.
