Massive forest fires have dotted the U.S. this past summer. The firefighters had difficulty containing many of the fires.

Activists claim NEPA is needed to protect against the devastation the logging industry would wreak on national forests. Those responsible for land management say the law has worked to prevent them from selective logging and clearing to control the spread of forest fires. Expect this battle to continue.
