The EPA on Wednesday, June 10, announced the availability of updated national recommended water quality criteria for the protection of human health for acrolein and phenol. These criteria were based on the agency's Methodology for Deriving Ambient Water Quality Criteria for the Protection of Human Health (2000), EPA-822-B-00-004. According to the EPA's note in the Federal Register, the new criteria will supersede those previously published for these chemicals.
