According to a report in Industrial Safety and Hygiene News dated Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, OSHA's rate of egregious violation citations more than doubled since President Obama's Administration took over in January 2009.

ISHN noted that 17 citations for egregious violations have been doled out since Jan. 20 last year, as opposed to eight during the preceding year and a half, and four before that.

OSHA inspectors cite egregious violations when an employer shows multiple instances of willful and flagrant indifference to correcting workplace hazards.
