California research company USA Green Energy Group LLC, formed in 2009, announced on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, that it will attempt to patent a coal combustion-to-steam process system. The company claims its process uses half of the coal of current systems to produce the same amount of steam. The system also would removed NOX, SOX, Furans, Dioxins to EPA standards, and collect 99.9 percent of commercial-grade CO2 for sequestration.

The systems use no boilers, can be installed into existing steam turbine generators and power transmission. They would not necessitate additional scrubbers. The company hopes to patent its system as a retrofit for coal power plants, steel mills, refineries and other similarly situated fossil fuels.
